Mosaic
craft supplies range from glass to stone to metal. These materials are
commonly used as the main color elements of a completed image. Each
little colored tile is known as a tessera. Another important mosaic
supply is the adhesive used for gluing these smaller pieces to the working
surface. This glue also varies in its composition.
There are a few ways in which a person may attach the smaller mosaic
craft supplies. He or she can directly place each tessera where it fits.
Another option is to lay a large area of tesserae upside down with a
backing material, then transferring all the pieces to it display surface.
Sometimes people lay the images face up exactly as they should appear,
and then use a backing material to flip them upside down. After this,
they repeat the step of flipping the mosaic to affix all of it at once.
The first, most direct option of attaching mosaic craft supplies can
be the most efficient for smaller projects. The second is more ideal
for larger projects. The third method can add extra problems but may
be necessary so that the finished product can be seen in progress.
