Cross stitch supplies are fairly basic, but there are still many to choose from. Each cross stitcher will need the same things: fabric, a frame to hold the fabric tight, a pattern for the design desired, a needle and some thread or floss. Those are the basics of cross stitch supplies and cross stitching doesn't get too much more complicated than that. Much like toilet paper, cross stitching hasn't really been improved on for many years.
The selection in cross stitch supplies comes from the design itself. Many pre-made designs will have the colors of floss required to imitate the original. But it is possible to change the colors and minor details of a design to fit personal preferences. Cross stitch fabric comes in a few different types, and that is also an area for some personal freedom and preferences.
Cross stitch supplies such as frames can be purchased in different sizes and styles. Some people work with small frames and others work with large ones for large designs. Other frames can be square or rectangle, though these are not the traditional types.
