Canvas art supplies belong to a specific niche of art supplies. They include a frame for the canvas, paints, paintbrushes, an easel or other item to prop the canvas up, as well as the canvas itself. There are other art supplies such as a paint palette or an art stool that fit within the niche of canvas art painting, but are not entirely necessary to paint on canvas.
Canvas art supplies such as the selection of paints and paintbrushes are heavily subject to the needs and desires of the painter. Some painters prefer oil based paints and some prefer acrylics. Some painters choose to work with bright, vibrant colors and subjects, while others go for more muted tones and landscapes.
Other canvas art supplies, such as the frame and canvas itself, seem secondary to the paints and subject painted. However, these are also artistic choices made by painter. Canvases vary in structure and it's up to the artist to choose the size and material of the canvas. Different material blends that canvases are made of hold paints differently, and it's important for the artist to choose the proper material for the medium he or she is painting with.
