A
person who can properly store his or her acrylic paints will be able
to keep the paints in good condition so they look good for a long time.
In order to properly store this paint, a person should:
• Wipe the paint – The paint should be wiped from the edges
of all of the bottles of acrylic paints. If a person leaves paint on
the edges, this could result in the paint clotting and then the lid
will not seal correctly. If the lid does not seal properly, the paint
inside will likely end up drying up.
• Dry the edges – After the edges have been wiped, they
also should be dried. A person who uses a damp rag can wipe the bottle
clean. The edges should be dry before they are stored. If there is water
left over, it can introduce types of bacteria and other substances that
may cause a discoloration of the paint. It also could change the texture
of acrylic paints.
• Close the lids – Each lid of the acrylic paints should
be tightly closed and sealed. It is important that the lid is tight
in order to prevent air from coming in through one of the cracks.
• Store it – After a person is absolutely sure that each
of the acrylic paints have been properly closed and are sealed from
air coming in to them, they should then be sealed in an airtight plastic
container. A large Tupperware container is often fine to use for doing
something like this.
A person who does this will soon find that when he or she removes the
acrylic paints the next time to paint that they will be in pretty much
the same shape that they were when they were first stored.
